About the Scholarship Fund

  • The New Opportunity School for Women Foundation Scholarship Fund is a scholarship fund managed by the New Opportunity School for Women Foundation for graduates of a NOSW three-week residential program at any program site. ​
  • Foundation Scholarships are intended to assist NOSW graduates who are furthering their education or training with the goal of becoming employed. 
  • Students who are awarded scholarships may use the funds to pay for any expense related to education.  This could include direct expenses (such as tuition, books, or fees) or indirect expenses (such as childcare, transportation, or health insurance).
  • A full-time student for a term in the 2018-2019 school year may apply for a $400 scholarship; a part-time student for a term in the 2018-19 school year may apply for a $200 scholarship.

Friends and donors are invited to support the Scholarship Fund through a special gift to the fund. Your gift is an  investment in changing lives of Appalachian women.

A FUN TIME AT THE OLD BALL PARK "to root, root for the home team" and raise scholarship funds for NOSW graduates for continuing education. Friends of the NOSW Foundation enjoyed a great game, and a win for the Lexington Legends, on August 28, 2015, as the Lexington Legends recognized the NOSW Foundation as the Community Nonprofit Organization of the NIght and to benefit the NOSW Foundation Scholarship Fund. A special thanks to the UK College of Law student and her daughter who volunteered to help out at the NOSW Foundation information table, to the NOSW Berea graduate who threw out the first ceremonial pitch, and to Amy Potts for coordinating a successful event. NOSW Foundation supporters who could not attend the game purchased tickets for donation to a local charity so that children could attend the game. A big thanks to Lexington Legends, Andy Shea, Rebecca Barnes, and our donors and supporters for making this evening possible!
